My dog Kate used to do exactly this when I’d stay up late working. For some reason, she thought herself obliged to stay awake with me. She’d lay down on her dog bed, and her head would droop and droop and droop — and then she’d jerk back awake. Then she’d do it all over again and again and again. She was always so happy and grateful when I’d put her to bed!
