Paul and I just watched Iron Giant. Since its director, Brad Bird, also directed The Incredibles, I hoped that it would be reasonably good. Instead of feeling uplifted and inspired, I feel like I need a moral shower.
The basic moral message of the movie was dramatized in the climax, in the Giant’s choice to immolate himself to prove himself good to the very people attempting to kill him. (It’s slightly more complicated than that, in both better and worse ways. That’s the essence though.) Also, guns are evil because they kill.
