I recently finished re-listening to Leonard Peikoff’s excellent course on Objective Communication… and nowhere did he ever suggest sex before public speaking to calm the nerves.
To be honest, I feel cheated. All those hours on communication… and nary a hint of a suggestion of an integration with the Objectivist view of sex!
(Actually, I’m more than a little skeptical of such purely statistical studies, although the apparent benefits of penetrative sex — as opposed to masturbation, oral sex, and the like — were interesting. Predictably, the researchers suggested that the differences could be explained solely in terms of biochemical processes, namely the “release of the ‘pair-bonding’ hormone oxytocin,” rather than any emotional responses to the differences in intimacy involved in different forms of sex.)
