In the likely vain hope of forestalling unnecessary e-mail…
Please don’t ask me for permission to link to dianahsieh.com, frontrangeobjectivism.com, or any other web site I manage. Linking to another web site does not require permission: the links on a web site are entirely up to the owners of that web site. Asking permission merely imposes an unnecessary and annoying burden upon me of replying, insofar as the presumption is that I’m withholding permission unless I explicitly give permission. (Notably, linking to someone does not imply that they endorse you. Heck, sometimes it doesn’t even imply that you endorse them!)
Of course, I’m delighted to hear of a new link to me. I’m even likely to respond with a quick word of thanks. I’m also more than happy to check out the site, to see whether I wish to add it to my blogroll. However, I don’t do quid pro quo link exchanges. I link to sites I like, whether or not they link to me. And I don’t link to sites I don’t like, even if they link to me.
We now return to our regularly scheduled programming…
